Safety & Proper Use

READ BEFORE USE. Keep these instructions. Failure to follow warnings may result in loss of control, escape, entanglement, falls, property damage, or injury to a person or animal.

Intended Use

The JOONI leash is intended for attended, ordinary-speed dog walking by an adult capable of controlling the dog. Use only within the final validated product weight rating and instructions. Current commercial planning references dogs up to 100 lb; this must be confirmed by engineering and testing before publication.

Before Every Walk

  • Inspect the full rope length and every component, including the handle, button/brake, stoppers, sleeves, stitching, connectors, swivel, and dog-end clip.

  • Operate the brake and release several times without the dog attached. Movement should be smooth and predictable.

  • Confirm the clip is fully closed and connected to a properly fitted collar or harness in good condition.

  • Remove the product from service if it is chewed, frayed, cut, cracked, bent, loose, jammed, corroded, or otherwise abnormal.

  • Choose a conventional fixed-length leash or additional control system when the dog, handler, location, weather, or crowd level requires closer control.

During Use

  • Hold the designated grip securely and remain attentive. Do not rely on the product to compensate for distraction.

  • Allow only enough distance for the environment. Shorten control before traffic, corners, elevators, stairs, doors, crowds, children, wildlife, and unfamiliar dogs.

  • Avoid wrapping rope around hands, fingers, wrists, the dog, another person, poles, or objects.

  • Keep the rope away from bare skin and bystanders. Rapid movement under tension can cause friction or entanglement injury.

  • Do not grab a moving or tensioned rope. Use the handle and brake as instructed.

  • Anticipate sudden lunges. Dogs with high prey drive, reactivity, escape behavior, or pulling strength may require professional training and different equipment.

Never Use For

  • Unattended tethering or tie-out use.

  • Securing a dog in a vehicle or as a crash-restraint system.

  • Bicycling, skating, skateboarding, scooters, motorized activities, running at unsafe speed, towing, mushing, or pulling sports.

  • Lifting, lowering, suspending, climbing, rescue, fall protection, or securing cargo.

  • Use by a child without direct, capable adult control.

  • More than one dog unless the product is expressly designed, tested, and labeled for that configuration.

  • Any purpose outside the instructions or product specifications.

Dog and Handler Suitability

A weight rating alone does not determine suitability. Consider strength, acceleration, training, behavior, environment, and the handler’s balance, grip, mobility, and ability to react. A strong or reactive dog below the weight limit may exceed a handler’s control or create loads greater than ordinary walking.

Chewing and Storage

No leash should be treated as chew proof. Do not allow a dog to mouth, chew, drag, or play with the leash. Store it dry and outside the animal’s reach. Chew damage may be hidden and can cause sudden failure.

Water, Sand, Salt, and Cold

Rinse and dry the product after exposure to salt, sand, mud, or dirty water. Freezing, grit, corrosion, or debris can affect moving hardware. Do not use a brake or connector that does not move normally.

Incident or Suspected Failure

Stop use immediately. Preserve the product and packaging, photograph the condition and scene where safe, and contact [SUPPORT EMAIL]. Seek appropriate medical or veterinary care when needed. Report product-related safety incidents promptly so JOONI can investigate.

No Absolute Safety Guarantee

JOONI designs products to support more controlled and comfortable walks, but no leash can eliminate risks created by animals, people, traffic, terrain, weather, misuse, wear, or unexpected events.
